Love Your Pet Month: Judy Schachner

February is Love Your Pets Month in Lansdowne. To celebrate this year, Animal Friends of Lansdowne welcomes local author Judy Schachner, who will read and sign her latest book, Sarabella's Thinking Cap. Ms. Schachner, Swarthmore resident and author of the beloved Skippyjon Jones books, will discuss and sign her other books as well. This newest book will be available for purchase at $20 and will help to raise funds for AFL. Children are encouraged to dress as their favorite characters from Schachner's books, and a costume contest with prizes will be held.

In the event of severe weather, there is a snow date of March 17.

Love Your Pet Month Event: Bunny Basics

Rabbits are gentle, affectionate animals who thrive in a calm, attentive home. But...they have specific needs to keep them healthy and happy, and they are not low-maintenance pets, as many people believe.

If you have – or will soon have – a special bunny in your life, please join us for this program (for adults and children 8 years and up). We’ll discuss rabbit behavior, care and supplies – and offer tips on how to choose (and where to find) the right bunny for your family.

This program is free and open to the public.

Open Meeting RE: Community Cats

  • Lansdowne Borough Hall, Council Chambers (map)

Join us for an open meeting about community cats in Lansdowne. You're invited to ask any questions that you may have and learn more about how you can help address the issue of community cats in Lansdowne.

Community cats endure extreme temperatures, starvation and numerous humancaused risks. Left unaltered, these cats reproduce at high levels, and kittens born outside are far less likely to survive. One unspayed female and her mate can result in over 11,000 in just 5 years! We want to address this issue, but we need your help!

Click here to let us know you plan on attending the meeting.
