We rely upon our adopters to be as generous as they are able to be. As a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization, we depend solely on donations to provide our rescued animals with all needed veterinary care which they have already received at the time of adoption. This care includes rabies and FVRCP inoculations; testing for feline leukemia, feline immunodeficiency virus, and heartworm; plus any needed medical treatment for parasites, fleas, infections, etc. If mature enough, your adopted cat has also received expert spay or neuter surgery. If too young, a pre-paid voucher for surgery at our vet will be provided to you. Prior to adoption, AFL's average vet costs already incurred for each pet we rescue are $300-$500 and are often more. This does not include any foster assistance provided for food, litter and other necessary supplies, or protracted treatment for any special problems, so your additional generosity is very much appreciated. Companionship is important for pets: especially if they are home alone for a few hours a day.
